CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Texas Longhorns are focused on the present as they prepare for Thursday’s March Madness matchup against Colorado State, but the future continues to look extremely bright.

Texas’ four-star 2024 signee Cam Scott was named South Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year on Thursday. He’ll arrive in Austin next season for a talented 2024 recruiting class that features five-star guard Tre Johnson and four-star forward Nic Codie.

Scott, a 6-5, 165-pound guard from Lexington (Lexington, S.C.), made an official visit to Austin this past November. It's possible that this visit sealed the deal in his mind, as he admitted it's always felt like home.

“I’m ready to be in Austin," Scott said, per On3. "Always felt like home and it’s time to work back to a Final Four run.”

He committed to Texas on Aug. 11, 2023 before officially signing on Nov. 8.

Scott had received offers from programs like Alabama, Oregon, Auburn and Clemson - all which are competing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament - along with Florida State, Georgia and LSU.
