Mets Insider Reveals Hopeful Starling Marte Update
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Despite the New York Mets flying high as of late, they have had to play with a few guys down at various points this season.

Right now, they are without star outfielder Starling Marte, who fractured his finger while the team was playing the Washington Nationals during Labor Day weekend.

Marte hasn’t been able to do much of anything since he’s been out, but Mets MLB.com beat writer Anthony DiComo shared an update that will make Mets fans feel a little bit better about the situation.

Marte hopes to try and hit and throw at some point today, believing that it will put him on track to return to the team for next weekend’s crucial series against the defending champion Atlanta Braves.

Marte Progressing Well

This is good news for the Mets, who are doing everything in their power to try and hold off the charging Braves and secure their first NL East title since 2015.

Marte is a key piece of their offense.

They’ll need their team as close to full strength as possible when they travel to Atlanta for that all-important series next weekend.

Marte has been out for a while, but if he’s able to swing the bat and throw today without much trouble, then he could be on track to return for next weekend’s clash in Atlanta.

It’s been a long road this season, but the NL East is going to come right down to the wire, as expected.

The Mets are hot, but the Braves are nipping at their heels and trying to regain first place.

They’ve won the division every season since 2018.

Whoever does not win the division will be forced to play in the Wild Card series.
