Mets' Jose Quintana Leaves Game With Side Tightness

Left-handed starter Jose Quintana left the Mets' Grapefruit League game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday due to left side tightness.

In what was supposed to be his final tune up before joining Team Colombia in the World Baseball Classic, Quintana suffered the injury after tossing a scoreless inning at Roger Dean Stadium.

According to GM Billy Eppler, Quintana will undergo testing on Monday. It's unclear whether he will still be able to participate in the WBC.

In his first spring start, Quintana was knocked around while struggling to adjust to the new pitch clock.

The Mets signed the 34-year-old to a two-year, $26 million deal in the offseason. The hope is that his injury is nothing more than just tightness.
