Just over two months after being hired in the role , Carlos Beltran is no longer the New York Mets manager.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Beltran is stepping down after being implicated in the Houston Astros sign-stealing controversy.
Beltran stepping down as #Mets manager, sources tell The Athletic.

This is not necessarily surprising news. It would have been hard for Beltran to keep his job. If he didn’t step down, there’s a strong chance the Mets would have fired the former All-Star outfielder.
All of this comes after Astros manager A.J. Hinch and Red Sox manager Alex Cora were fired due to their roles in sign-stealing scandals over the past few seasons.
Needless to say, Beltran’s decision came with a mixed bag of reactions from the MLB world.
Incredible that the Astros and Red Sox cheating wound up costing #Mets their manager.

And hey, at least a Mets official has already gone on the record about what a shame it is.

This is going to take the spotlight off Mike Piazza Drive.

This is similar to the Red Sox script. Beltran stepping down is a signal to future employers.

This is the second time Carlos Beltran getting caught looking has ruined the Mets.

What a terrible day for the #Mets, & an extension of a terrible week for #MLB. Amazing how a cheating scandal involving the #Astros could have such a profound & negative effect on the #Mets.

Carlos Beltrán was such a promising and exciting hire too.
Sad moment for the team.
