Rod Carew is on the Royce Lewis bandwagon
USA TODAY Sports

Royce Lewis has a big fan in one of the greatest hitters in baseball history, Rod Carew.

After Lewis tied last night's game against the Guardians with a two-run homer to deep center in the eighth inning, Carew tweeted: "I've said it before. I'll say it again. This kid is special."

Lewis's two-run blast Thursday night was his second since rejoining the squad May 29. The 24-year-old played 12 games last season before suffering a torn ACL – his second – on May 29, which was, obviously, a year to date of his most recent return.

In three games since returning to the majors, Lewis has hit two homers and driven in six runs. Before rejoining the Twins, Lewis spent 10 games in the minors and hit four home runs, driving in 11 while slashing .333/.395/.692.

He was the No. 1 overall in the 2017 MLB Draft.
