Seattle Mariners' Field Artwork Goes Viral Ahead of Felix Hernandez Weekend
USA TODAY Sports

This weekend will be a special weekend in Seattle as the Mariners honor longtime ace Felix Hernandez.

Hernandez will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame on Saturday night before the Mariners take on the Baltimore Orioles and the team is pulling out all the stops.

Check out the outfield artwork at T-Mobile Park in advance of the weekend, which has a "K" with a crown on top of it.

It's a nice homage to Hernandez and all the strikeouts he accumulated as a member of the Mariners.

All in all, Hernandez is one of the most revered players in team history, having spent the entirety of his 15-year career in Seattle. He went 169-136 lifetime, playing for some mostly bad Mariners teams. He had a career 3.42 ERA, made six All-Star teams, won two ERA titles and won a Cy Young award.

Sadly, Hernandez never got the chance to pitch in the postseason, as the M's failed to make the playoffs from 2002-2021, spanning the entirety of his career and then some.

He debuted in 2005 at the age of 19 and retired after the 2019 season.

He'll join Ichiro Suzuki, Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer, Lou Piniella, Jay Buhner, Alvin Davis and Dave Niehaus in the Hall of Fame.

This year's Mariners are on a seven-game win streak entering play on Friday. They'll take on the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night at 10:10 p.m. ET. Seattle enters at 1.5 games back in the chase for the final wild card spot.
