New York Knicks Sign Former Hawks Player

Brandon Goodwin most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

That season, he averaged 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.6% from the field and 34.5% from the three-point range in 36 games.

On Thursday, the New York Knicks announced that they had signed Goodwin (and Mamadi Diakite). 

Since the deals are Exhibit 10, both players will likely play in the G League for the Westchester Knicks. 

Via Knicks PR: "The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed center/forward Mamadi Diakite and guard Brandon Goodwin to Exhibit 10 contracts."

Goodwin has played four seasons in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers. 

His career averages are 4.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 39.0% from the field and 31.5% from the three-point range in 133 regular season games. 

The longest tenure of his career came with the Hawks (81 games). 

Meanwhile, Diakite is coming off a season where he played in 22 games for the Cavs. 

He averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.0% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range. 

In addition to the Cavs, the 26-year-old has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder over three seasons. 

As for the Knicks, they will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 25 when they host the Boston Celtics
