Green Bay Packers Rookie Jordan Morgan Responds To Critics
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Arizona offensive tackle, Jordan Morgan. It was a selection that made a lot of sense, as Green Bay needed some help in the trenches.

With long-time left tackle David Bakhtiari being released earlier in the offseason, and left guard Jon Runyan Jr. departing in free agency, the front office needed to find replacements. Morgan is one of the guys they tabbed as aid.

While he will almost certainly find himself in the lineup, where he will be playing is up in the air currently. He played left tackle with the Wildcats, but some evaluators believe his future in the NFL will be on the interior or guard.

A reason for the criticism is that Morgan doesn’t have the longest arms. That won’t be as detrimental playing on the interior as it would on the perimeter against players coming off the edge with length and athleticism.

While evaluators are concerned about it, it isn’t something that Morgan pays any mind to. When speaking to reporters during the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp, he responded to his critics.

“I get that a lot, the short arms stuff,” Jordan Morgan said. “It’s like, obviously you haven’t watched film. I mean I use them pretty well, I move people off the ball, I pass set really well, protect the quarterback, I mean see the stats. It doesn’t bother me. I’m just gonna prove everybody wrong.”

During offseason workouts, the plan is for Jordan Morgan to start at left tackle. He will be competing for the starting spot there with Rasheed Walker, who filled in admirably in 2023 in place of Bakhtiari, who played in Week 1 and then missed the remainder of the season.

Walker isn’t going to give the starting spot away without a fight, as Morgan will gave to earn it. That could push him to the inside, as the Green Bay Packers are going to have the five best players in their starting lineup.

That kind of versatility is partly what the Green Bay Packers like about Jordan Morgan so much. He can help the team out at either tackle spot or guard, depending on where the need arises. The offensive line is going to produce arguably the most competitive training camp battles for the team this offseason.
